Organizing your own wedding can certainly be stressful, but with the help of Varsity Tents, bride Saara Sallinen-Argue threw a one-of-a-kind wedding at the very spot her groom proposed– a baseball diamond.
“History told us we were the first people in Mississauga to ever do it,” said Sallinen-Argue, whose dream was to get married while standing on home plate.
But this wasn’t an easy event to pull off. Sallinen-Argue had to get permits from the city, consult with local police and firefighters – and find a tenting company who would take on the challenge.
“I must have talked to about 10 different companies before I picked Varsity,” said Sallinen-Argue. “Ninety per cent of the time they said they wouldn’t do it, because it was a Saturday event and they couldn’t tear down on Sunday.”
“But Jamie and I clicked right away,” she said. “And when we went by the next day to clean up, everything was already taken down and the place was spotless.”
