CHOOSING A TENT FOR EVENT

There are several factors that you should consider when deciding whether or not you should have a tent in the first place. Keep the following in mind:

  • Do you have the adequate space to install a tent?
  • Are you prepared for any weather conditions?
  • Would you like to have your event in a controllable, fun atmosphere?
  • Do you need coverage against the elements for your event to ensure its success?
  • Do you need to attract attention for a sale or venue?
  • Do you need to expand a current facility?

TYPES OF TENTS FOR RENT

There are two basic types of tent styles:

Pole Tents:

  • Often called Traditional Tents, Centre Pole Tents or Tension Tents.
  • Have one or more centre poles that bisect the middle of the tent.
  • Anchor points must be in a precise location around the tent.
  • Can inexpensively span a large area.
  • Can have swooped peak roofs and high dramatic ceilings.
  • Can be quickly installed on flat open areas.

Frame Tents:

  • Often called Clear Span, Freedom Frame, Marquis or Freestanding tents.
  • Have a clear area in the middle of the tent with an overhead frame.
  • Can fit in areas where Pole Tents cannot.
  • Have clear site lines.
  • Are easily anchored on a variety of surfaces.
  • Can come in traditional Frame, Warner Frame, or Clear Span.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER

Once you have chosen your ideal tent size, there are some additional factors that may influence your decision. You may want to consider the following issues:

  • The surface the tent is to be installed on. Certain surfaces such as pavement, concrete, etc. may require extra or custom equipment which can add to the cost of your rental.
  • The number of tents required. Depending on the circumstances, Varsity may be able to offer discounts on multiple rentals or multiple quantities of tents.
  • We have tents and will travel. Locational delivery charges are subject to change based on required travel distance to the site.
  • Rental rates include install and dismantle.
  • Season and time of installation. Winter months require more labour, as do installations very late at night or very early in the morning.
  • Are there any custom requirements that have to be addressed? Installation over trees, patios, or eavestroughs all require additional work
  • Accessories such as pole curtains, lighting, heating, etc. should be considered when calculating the final cost.
  • Rental costs include up to four days of rental. Should you require the tent for a longer period, we would be happy to discuss long-term discounts.
