In October 2010, the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre partnered with Varsity Tents to host His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit to Etobicoke, Ontario. It was a great event and the Varsity team met a lot of incredible people there, including well-known chef, author, and television personality Art Smith.
We caught up with him just outside his Varsity Tents 30×30 kitchen tent, which he worked inside while preparing food for the guest of honour.
This photo of Art below was taken outside of Varsity Tents event operations headquarters at the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre in Etobicoke. Also in the photo are some of the finest members of the Toronto Police Service’s Motor Cycle Team, who were in great spirits while they waited to escort the Dalai Lama to Pearson International Airport for his departure.
Art Smith has cooked for some extraordinary people, serving as Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef and as a repeat guest chef for President Obama’s Whitehouse – it was such an honour to meet him!
And did we mention that we got to taste some of his food? Delish!
